**Employee advocacy on LinkedIn now means helping a handful of employees post about their own work, not pushing everyone to reshare company posts. LinkedIn retired the My Company and Employee Advocacy tabs from late 2024, so run the program yourself: recruit 5 to 15 willing experts, give them topic prompts, templates and an approval-light guideline, use Notify employees for the Page posts that matter most, reshare their best posts from the Page and boost the strongest as Thought Leader Ads. Measure reach among target accounts and conversations, and never automate their activity.**

> **Key takeaways**
>
> - The My Company tab, the Employee Advocacy tab and the curator role are gone; curators became analysts.
> - Notify employees works once a day per admin and once per post, not for targeted posts, and needs at least two associated employees.
> - Original posts by employees beat mass reshares; give prompts and templates, not scripts.
> - LinkedIn's June 2026 Marketing Blog guidance recommends building an employee advocacy program for AI visibility.
> - Measure reach in target accounts, followers and conversations, not "shares".

*Checked 5 November 2026 (CET) against LinkedIn Help on the retired My Company and Employee Advocacy tabs, Employee Notifications, Page admin roles and prohibited software, plus LinkedIn's Marketing Blog on AI search visibility (June 2026), cited in Sources. Program design and cadence are practitioner guidance. "Our view" marks MentionX opinion. Ledgerline is a fictional company used for illustration.*

## What changed in LinkedIn's advocacy tools?

| Before | Now | Source |
|---|---|---|
| My Company tab for employees | No longer available | LinkedIn Help |
| Employee Advocacy tab with curated posts | No longer available | LinkedIn Help |
| Curator role | Discontinued; curators became analysts | LinkedIn Help |
| Notify employees | Still available, with limits | LinkedIn Help |
| Resharing employees' posts that mention the Page | Available from the Page | LinkedIn Help |
| Third-party advocacy platforms | Available via LinkedIn Marketing Partners and others | LinkedIn Help |

## How does Notify employees work?

Follow these steps as a Page admin:

1. Open your Page's admin view and go to Page posts.
2. Click **More** (three dots) on the post.
3. Select **Notify employees**.

Rules from LinkedIn Help:

- Once per day per admin, and once per post.
- Not available for targeted posts.
- The Page needs at least two associated employees (members who list the Page in their Experience).
- Employees can opt out of these notifications.
- Delivery can take several hours, and LinkedIn uses a relevance model to decide who sees it.

*Our view:* save Notify employees for one important post a week, such as a launch or a big customer story, so employees do not tune it out.

## Who should be in the program?

| Group | Why | What they post about |
|---|---|---|
| Founder and execs | Point of view, credibility | Strategy, market opinions, lessons |
| Subject-matter experts (product, engineering, finance) | First-hand expertise | How things work, mistakes, data |
| Customer success | Customer stories | Patterns from customer calls (anonymised) |
| Sales | Relationships | Buyer questions, events, useful resources |
| Recruiting and people | Culture | Hiring, team life |

Start with 5 to 15 volunteers who already enjoy LinkedIn. Forced programs produce generic posts.

## How do you run the program?

1. **Kick-off workshop (60 minutes):** why it matters, profile basics (lesson 2), hooks (lesson 4) and the guideline.
2. **Guideline (one page):** what is confidential, how to mention customers (permission), disclosure, how to handle negative comments and who to ask.
3. **Weekly prompt email or Slack post:** three topic prompts, one company asset and one example post. Not copy-paste text.
4. **Content kit:** templates, brand images, a glossary of product and category terms (consistent terminology helps AI assistants, per LinkedIn's June 2026 blog), and recent data points.
5. **Office hours (30 minutes a week):** marketing helps edit drafts.
6. **Amplify:** reshare the best posts from the Page; consider [Thought Leader Ads](https://mentionx.ai/learn/linkedin/linkedin-thought-leader-ads) for high performers.
7. **Recognise:** share wins internally; give people time (some companies block two hours a week).

### What must the guideline cover?

| Topic | Rule example |
|---|---|
| Confidentiality | No unreleased features, pricing changes, customer names without permission |
| Disclosure | Employees should make clear they work for the company when promoting it |
| Automation | No tools that auto-post, auto-comment or auto-like (LinkedIn User Agreement 8.2) |
| Regulated claims | Finance, health or legal claims checked with compliance |
| Crisis | Do not respond to complaints publicly; route to support |

This is not legal advice; check disclosure and advertising rules in your markets.

> **Pro move:** build a shared "proof bank" spreadsheet: every week customer success adds one anonymised outcome, product adds one feature insight and sales adds the week's best buyer question. Employees pick one row and write a post in their own words. You get original, specific posts from different voices on the same themes, which is exactly the consistent-terminology, first-hand content that LinkedIn's AI-visibility guidance recommends.

## How do you measure advocacy?

| Metric | How |
|---|---|
| Active advocates | Count of employees who posted at least twice a month |
| Reach in target audience | Post analytics demographics (job titles, companies) shared by advocates |
| Follower growth | Advocates' and the Page's follower counts monthly |
| Conversations | DMs and comments from target accounts, logged in CRM |
| Pipeline influence | Opportunities where a contact engaged with an advocate's post |
| AI citations | Prompt checks for your category questions |

Employees own their analytics, so ask them to share a monthly screenshot or numbers in a simple form.

## Worked example: Ledgerline

*Ledgerline is a fictional accounts-payable software company. Competitors A to D and all figures are illustrative.*

Ledgerline used to ask all 60 employees to like and reshare every Page post. Engagement came mostly from colleagues. Competitor C's engineers and customer success managers post weekly and appear in AI answers.

### Walkthrough

1. **Recruit:** 9 volunteers: founder, CFO, two product managers, an engineer, two CSMs, an SDR lead and the head of people.
2. **Kit:** guideline, glossary, proof bank and templates.
3. **Rhythm:** Monday prompt post in Slack, Wednesday office hours, Notify employees on one Page post a week.
4. **Amplify:** two best posts a month sponsored as Thought Leader Ads to target accounts.
5. **Results after one quarter (illustrative):** 7 active advocates, combined reach of 410,000 members, 38% in finance roles, 23 DMs from target accounts and 6 meetings.

## Common mistakes

- Copy-paste posts that read identically on ten profiles.
- Asking everyone to engage with every company post (internal echo).
- No guideline, then panic after one bad post.
- Using automation tools to post for employees.
- Measuring shares instead of target-audience reach.

## Try it yourself

Write a one-page guideline using the table. Recruit three volunteers and send them the first weekly prompt with three topic ideas and an example post.

## Quick quiz

**1. What happened to curators?**
*Answer:* The role was discontinued and curators became analysts.

**2. How often can an admin use Notify employees?**
*Answer:* Once per day per admin, once per post.

**3. What must a Page have for Notify employees to work?**
*Answer:* At least two associated employees.

**4. Why give prompts rather than scripts?**
*Answer:* Original posts are more credible and avoid identical content across profiles.

## What should you check before the next lesson?

- A volunteer list and a one-page guideline.
- A weekly prompt and office hours in the calendar.
- A proof bank started.
- A monthly advocacy metrics sheet.
