AI visibility is how often AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity mention and recommend your brand when buyers ask about your category. MentionX measures it by running real buyer prompts through each engine and recording who gets recommended, in what position, and which sources the answer cites.
SEO measures where your pages rank in a list of links; AI visibility measures whether an AI engine names and recommends you inside its answer. The two overlap, because AI answers often cite pages that rank well, but a top Google ranking does not guarantee an AI recommendation.
A buyer prompt is a question a real buyer would ask an AI engine, such as 'best CRM for a mid-size team' or 'HubSpot alternatives'. MentionX groups prompts by intent: category discovery, use cases, buying criteria, competitive, alternatives and brand evaluation.
