Which regions are covered?

Semrush lists around 40 countries for Visibility Overview, Competitor Research and Prompt Research, including Germany, the UK and the US, with a worldwide option in Visibility Overview. Brand Performance reports are tied to the location and language selected during setup (Semrush).

How do you set it up?

  1. Run Visibility Overview for your brand and 3–5 competitors.
  2. Use Competitor Research to list prompts and topics where competitors are cited and you aren't.
  3. Use Prompt Research to find topics with demand in your category.
  4. Choose 25 prompts for Prompt Tracking: mix high-value buyer questions with brand and comparison prompts.
  5. Set up Brand Performance for your main market's location and language.
  6. Run the AI Search Site Audit and fix crawler blockers; compare with your robots.txt (Google) and crawler documentation (OpenAI).
  7. Review weekly, report monthly.

How do you report it to stakeholders?

How do you choose 25 prompts?

~25%Comparison prompts"Example vs Competitor for small teams"
~20%Problem prompts"How to track client hours across projects"
~15%Brand fact prompts"How much does Example cost?"

How should you read results critically?

  • Scores are model-based summaries. Understand what goes into the AI Visibility Score before reporting it as a KPI.
  • Daily tracking captures single answers. AI answers vary, so judge changes over several weeks (NIST).
  • Prompt volume is estimated. Treat topic volume as directional.
  • Sentiment is automated. Read the actual answer text for important prompts.
  • Region matters. Brand Performance reflects the location and language set during setup.

How does it compare with Ahrefs Brand Radar?

Both connect AI visibility to a large SEO dataset. Semrush has a fixed-price toolkit with set limits and a site audit for AI crawlers. Ahrefs offers custom prompts priced by checks plus a large pre-collected index (Ahrefs). Compare platforms covered, prompt limits, regions and exports for your needs.

A quick example

Illustrative. An agency adds the toolkit for a client and runs Competitor Research, which shows a competitor cited on "best payroll software for startups" topics. Site Audit flags that the client's pricing page blocks a crawler. The agency fixes robots.txt, rewrites the pricing page with clear facts, and tracks the 25 prompts weekly.
