Perplexity plans and pricing for marketing teams (2026)
Free, Pro, Max, Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max compared for marketers, with Computer credits, seats and API billing. Checked Nov 2026.
Most marketers can start on Free, and most active researchers should move to Pro. Pro is listed at $20 a month billed monthly or $17 a month billed annually. Max ($200 a month, or $167 billed annually) only makes sense for heavy Research, Computer or Model Council users. Teams that need SSO, admin controls and data guarantees should look at Enterprise Pro ($40 per seat per month) or Enterprise Max ($325 per seat per month). The API is billed separately, so budget for it separately.
- Search (Ask) is unlimited on paid plans and doesn't use Computer credits. Credits only cover Computer tasks.
- 100 credits equal $1. A quick fact costs tens of credits, and a full research report costs hundreds.
- Enterprise plans don't include API usage. API keys are billed through the API console.
- Buy for your heaviest workflow, not your average one, and review usage after 30 days.
Checked 5 November 2026 (CET) against the Perplexity Help Center, Perplexity blog, Perplexity API docs and the outlets cited in Sources. Perplexity renames and moves features often, so confirm labels and limits in your own account. "Our view" marks MentionX opinion. Ledgerline is a fictional company used for illustration.
01What does each plan include?
Prices are US list prices as of November 2026. Taxes, regional pricing and promotions vary, so confirm on Perplexity's pricing page before you buy.
| Plan | List price | What marketers get | Main limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Cited search, limited Pro Search and Research, Projects, Comet browser | Daily caps on advanced searches. No Computer |
| Pro | $20/mo monthly, $17/mo annual | Unlimited Search, broad Pro Search, Research, model choice per query, premium data sources, Computer with included usage | Computer usage and some premium features capped |
| Max | $200/mo monthly, $167/mo annual | Everything in Pro, much higher Research and asset limits, Model Council, monthly Computer credits, Brain (research preview) | Single user |
| Enterprise Pro | $40/seat/mo, or $400/seat/yr | Pro features plus organisation admin, SSO, data protections, 500 Computer credits a month | Some admin features need 50+ seats |
| Enterprise Max | $325/seat/mo, or $3,250/seat/yr | Max features for teams, 15,000 Computer credits a month, larger file limits, Brain (research preview) | Price |
Perplexity's Help Center lists Pro features such as Computer, premium data sources (it names partners like PitchBook and Statista), search across web, files and apps, and model choice. Treat the named data partners as plan details to check, because partner lists change.
02How do Computer credits work?
Computer is Perplexity's agent for multi-step work (see lesson 9). It runs on credits.
- Rate: 100 credits = $1.
- Typical cost ranges Perplexity publishes: a quick fact costs roughly 15-70 credits, a multi-step research report roughly 350-950, and a dashboard or app roughly 2,400-9,800.
- Allowances: Max includes 10,000 credits a month (plus a one-time bonus at launch). Pro has included usage that Perplexity has been rolling out. Enterprise Pro includes 500 credits per seat per month, and Enterprise Max includes 15,000.
- What doesn't use credits: normal Search (Ask) queries.
- What does: Computer tasks, and Model Council and Research when run inside Computer, plus the Comet Assistant when it works in Computer mode.
Our view: credits are the main way teams overspend. Dashboards and app builds cost an order of magnitude more than reports. Set a monthly credit budget per person before you roll Computer out.
03Which plan fits which marketing role?
| Role | Typical use | Recommended plan |
|---|---|---|
| Occasional researcher | Fact checks, quick competitor lookups | Free |
| Content marketer | Briefs, source gathering, a few Research reports a week | Pro |
| Product marketer | Competitor teardowns, market sizing, Model Council for positioning checks | Pro, or Max if Model Council is used heavily |
| Marketing ops | Automations, recurring reports | Pro plus API budget |
| Agency or research lead | Many Research reports and Computer deliverables a day | Max |
| Team of 10+ with SSO needs | Shared Projects, admin, compliance | Enterprise Pro |
04How do you estimate a team budget?
Use this four-step method.
- Count seats by role. List who needs a login, and who just needs outputs. People who only read reports can use Free, or view shared Projects.
- Estimate monthly Computer tasks per person. For example, four research reports and one dashboard.
- Convert to credits. Using the midpoint of Perplexity's ranges: 4 × 650 + 1 × 6,000 = 8,600 credits, or about $86 a month at list rate.
- Compare to included allowances. If most people exceed Pro's included usage, Max or Enterprise Max may be cheaper than buying extra credits.
Add API spend separately (step 5 below).
05What about the API?
The API is pay as you go and isn't included in any subscription. Lesson 11 covers it in detail. The headline prices from Perplexity's docs:
| API item | Price (Nov 2026) |
|---|---|
| Search API | $5 per 1,000 requests, or $1 per 1,000 on the fast path |
| Agent API web_search tool | $2.50 per 1,000 calls, or $1.00 per 1,000 with fast search |
| Agent API fetch_url tool | $0.0005 per call |
| Model tokens | Per-model token pricing on the Agent API models page |
A weekly 50-prompt monitoring job via the Search API costs cents. An Agent API job at high effort with many tool calls costs more, so check the usage dashboard after the first run.
06Enterprise: what actually matters to marketing?
Most enterprise features are about security, but some matter directly to marketing:
- SSO and SCIM. Joiners and leavers are handled automatically, so former agency staff don't keep access to your Projects.
- Data retention and training. Perplexity says enterprise data isn't used to train models. Confirm this in your contract.
- Audit logs. Useful when a published claim needs tracing back to the research that produced it.
- File limits. Larger upload allowances for teams that put research libraries into Projects.
- Seat thresholds. Some admin features need either 50 Enterprise Pro seats or one Enterprise Max seat. Ask sales which applies to you.
07Worked example: Ledgerline
Ledgerline is a fictional accounts-payable software company. Details are illustrative.
Ledgerline's marketing team has nine people. Three expensed personal Pro plans. The others used Free, and two shared a login, which broke Perplexity's terms and mixed up everyone's history.
| Person | Workflow | Plan chosen |
|---|---|---|
| Head of content | 6 Research reports a week, briefs | Pro (annual) |
| Product marketer | Competitor teardowns, Model Council on positioning | Max (3-month trial, then review) |
| SEO lead | Source audits, citation checks | Pro |
| Marketing ops | Automations, API monitoring | Pro plus $40/month API cap |
| Five others | Occasional lookups, read Project outputs | Free |
Walkthrough
- Export a month of usage from each paid account (Settings shows usage and credits).
- Group the tasks by type: search, Research, Computer.
- Price the Computer tasks with Perplexity's published credit ranges.
- Pick the plan per person, and set a 30-day review date in the calendar.
- Move the shared login onto proper seats and share Projects instead.
After 30 days, the product marketer hadn't used Model Council enough to justify Max and moved back to Pro. The API cap was never reached.
08Common mistakes
- Buying Max for everyone. Most marketers never get near Pro's limits.
- Forgetting the API. Automation teams assume a subscription covers the API. It doesn't.
- Sharing logins. You lose history, privacy and admin control. Use Projects.
- Ignoring annual billing. Annual Pro is $17 a month instead of $20. For people who use it daily, that's an easy saving.
09Try it yourself
List everyone who uses Perplexity today. For each person, write their top three tasks and mark each one as Search, Research or Computer. Price the Computer tasks with the credit ranges above, then pick a plan per person. Put the review date in your calendar.
