Google Gemini for Marketers: Free Course (2026)
Free Gemini course for marketers: Deep Research, skills, Workspace, Sheets, Gemini Notebook, the API, n8n and getting your brand into AI Mode.
Google Gemini for Marketers is a free, practical 20-lesson track in two halves. The first half teaches you to use Gemini as a working tool. It covers research with Deep Research, reusable skills (which are replacing Gems), Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Slides and Sheets, Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM), Nano Banana and Gemini Omni for creative, the Gemini API and n8n automation, and Ask Advisor in Google Ads and Analytics. The second half teaches you to get your brand shown and linked in Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews. It covers how Google grounds answers, Google-Extended versus Googlebot, the Search generative AI control, structured data and entities, content formats, Merchant Center, GA4 and the Search Console AI reports.
- 20 lessons: 12 on using Gemini for marketing work and 8 on visibility in Google's AI surfaces.
- Reflects the November 2026 product: Gemini 4 Argon and 3.8 Flash, skills replacing Gems, NotebookLM renamed Gemini Notebook, Vertex AI renamed Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, and Ask Advisor across Google's ad tools.
- Three Google surfaces matter for visibility: the Gemini app, AI Mode and AI Overviews. They share an index but not a model, so they don't always agree.
- Every lesson includes a Ledgerline walkthrough, an exercise, a quiz and a checklist.
Checked 5 November 2026 (CET) against Gemini Apps Help, the Gemini release notes, Google Workspace Help, Google Search Central, Search Console Help, the Gemini API docs and the Google blog posts cited in Sources. Google renames and moves Gemini features often, so confirm labels and limits in your own account. "Our view" marks MentionX opinion. Ledgerline is a fictional company used for illustration.

03How is the track organised?
Foundations (lessons 1-3). What Gemini is across the app, Workspace, Search and the API; what each plan includes in November 2026; and how to choose a model and write prompts that hold up.
Research and content workflows (lessons 4-8). Deep Research reports, reusable skills, Gemini inside Gmail, Docs and Slides, the AI function in Sheets, and source-grounded research in Gemini Notebook.
Creative, automation and ad tools (lessons 9-12). Nano Banana image models, Gemini Omni video and Google Flow; the Gemini API, AI Studio and Agent Platform; n8n workflows; and Ask Advisor across Google Ads, Analytics and Merchant Center.
Getting shown and linked (lessons 13-17). How Google grounds answers, which crawler controls do what, structured data and entity signals, content formats that earn links, and product data for shopping answers and checkout.
Measurement (lessons 18-20). GA4's AI Assistant channel and its blind spots, the Search Console generative AI reports, and a monthly prompt-tracking routine with named owners.
04Who is this track for?
It's for content marketers, SEO and AEO leads, product marketers, demand gen managers, ecommerce managers and marketing ops people. Some of you live in Google Workspace and want Gemini to save hours each week. Others answer to a boss who asks, "Why does AI Mode recommend Competitor B and not us?" Most teams need both answers, and the two halves of this track share one prompt set so the work connects.
Each lesson has a Ledgerline worked example. Ledgerline is a fictional accounts-payable software company that competes with four rivals, called Competitor A to Competitor D. Each lesson also has a walkthrough, an exercise and a short quiz.
05What do you need?
- A Google Account. The free Gemini app covers lessons 1, 3, 4 and 9 at basic limits.
- For lessons 6, 7 and parts of 5, a Google Workspace business edition with Gemini turned on by your admin, or a Google AI Plus or Pro plan on a personal account.
- For lessons 10 and 11, a Gemini API key from Google AI Studio and, optionally, an n8n instance (cloud or self-hosted).
- For lessons 14, 18 and 19, access to robots.txt, a GA4 property and a verified Search Console property.
- For lesson 17, Merchant Center access if you sell products.
- A spreadsheet for the prompt set you'll build in lesson 20.
Our view: Gemini's biggest advantage for marketers isn't any single model. It's that Gemini already sits inside the tools you use: Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Google Ads, GA4 and Search. Learn it there first, and only then build API workflows.
06How this track pairs with the other tracks
Gemini overlaps with other engines and Google tools, but the details differ.
- Lessons 4 and 8 pair with ChatGPT deep research for competitive intel and Perplexity competitor research.
- Lesson 7 pairs with Claude in Excel and Google Sheets.
- Lesson 11 pairs with n8n for Marketers and n8n AI nodes and models.
- Lesson 12 pairs with Google Ads for Marketers and GA4 for Marketers.
- Lessons 13-16 pair with the engine guides how to rank in Gemini, how AI Mode picks sources and how to get your brand into AI Overviews.
- Lesson 18 pairs with the AI Assistant channel regex and GTM AI referral traffic.
- Lesson 19 pairs with Search Console for Marketers.
07What done looks like
When you finish the track, your team should be able to show:
- A short policy on which Gemini plan each role uses, and which data may go into it.
- A brand-voice skill and a research skill, written, tested and shared.
- A competitor teardown built with Deep Research, with a dated source log.
- One recurring workflow, in Workspace Studio or n8n, that drafts work for a human to approve.
- A written decision on Google-Extended and the Search generative AI control, with the reasons.
- Organization, Product or SoftwareApplication markup that matches your visible pages.
- A GA4 view where gemini.google.com sessions are visible, with AI Mode treated as part of Organic Search.
- A monthly report that combines Search Console AI impressions, GA4 sessions and a fixed prompt set across Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews, compared with Competitors A-D.
If any item is missing, go to the matching lesson.

09Five setups to build first
If you only have time for a few, these give most teams the quickest return:
- A brand-voice skill that every writer uses (lesson 5). If your team still uses Gems, move them before they go away.
- A Deep Research competitor teardown for each of your top four rivals (lesson 4).
- An AI column in Sheets that tags customer feedback by theme (lesson 7).
- A robots.txt and Search Console settings review, so you know what Google may use and where (lesson 14).
- A 30-prompt baseline across Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews (lesson 20).
10How this track stays honest
We cite Google's own documentation, help centres and blog posts, with access dates. Where a product has been renamed (NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook, Gems to skills, Vertex AI to Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Ads Advisor to Ask Advisor), we use the new name and give the old one once. We don't invent citation rates, click-through rates or ranking factors. Google says there are no special requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode beyond normal SEO, so when we describe what tends to get linked, we label it as our view or give you a test to run. Prices are list prices in USD for the United States on 5 November 2026. Several are introductory prices with published end dates. Ledgerline numbers are fictional.
